What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? ca. northern california

I have a service from an online company and the bill/invoice due date is always on the first of the month.
They are now telling me it is due by the 1st and on the 1st it is suspended. My question is if it is due by or on the first then doesn't that mean i have untill the end of that day to get the payment in? I mean, Can the due date and delinquent date actually be the same day like that?

Technically, yes. However, if there is an outstanding balance due, then the company could feasibly disconnect the services for that unpaid balance when the 1st of the month rolls around, and say that the reason for the disconnection is because of the PAST due balance that doesn't include the new charges.

So, was there an outstanding balance due prior to the 1st? If so, it looks like you'll have to pay that AND the current amount due in order to reconnect your services.

re internet services

No there was no past balance due. They say the service is from the 1st til the end of the month but im trying to figure out is if thats the case wouldnt the due date be the end of the month?

i asked two questions and you said "technically yes", can you please clarify for me?

i pay it every month on the 1st, for three years and there was no notice that the policy had changed on a grace period.

It is possible they have upgraded their system ,and it now flag if not paid by the 1st.

Discuss this with them to see if there is any reason why after 3 years this is occuring.

If the invoice states by the 1st,then technically you must pay by the 1st.

If the invoice stated due by or on the first, then you payment should be in on the first in time for billing to enter it .

Make sence?
