While working on my own .com site for business, I discovered a porno site with my full name and description. I do not have a common name at all. To find something like this was shocking. I am a professional business woman in my community.

What are my legal rights? This is a defamaiton of my character, and I want it stopped. How do I go about this?

I'm not clear on the issue. Is this someone who is representing that you personally are associated with this site? Or is it someone whose name and description are similar enough to yours that you are worried there will be some confusion?

In the second case, there's probably not much you can do. If it's the first, you need a lawyer with experience in communications law. The Virginia Press Association (contact info) might be able to give you a list of attorneys in the state with experience in this area (or the Virginia Bar.)

Either way, you need to act fairly quickly now that you know about it.
