*I bought 3 products (at inflated prices) from an internet site http://www.XXXXXXX.
* A rebate for the entire sum was also part of the deal after the rebate applications were sent in.
* Now the firm has declared bankruptcy.

Is it binding on the site to give the rebates ? If they are not how can I make them pay me the money ?

Please tell me something about small claims court. Should I have to have a lawyer?

If the site is out of town, but is there any govt dept which follow such cases for sake of consumers ?

Awaiting a reply. This is regarding a sum which is close to 1,000 $ and I hate losing such big amounts of money on a foolish thing I did.

Proof of claim

Today I just received a letter from the Bankcruptcy Court. They asked me to file a proof of claim. No deadline is set yet. I guess you should receive a similar one soon. As to the form "Proof of Claim", it can be found by doing a simple search on Yahoo.

The form should be sent to the Bankcruptcy Clerk's Office:

75 Clinton Street
Brooklyn, NY 11201
Tel: 718-330-2188

I know little about this legal stuff but you can find relevant info at the following website:

Hope this helps.

Thanks buddy !!!
This really makes me much more informed. Yes, I got the letter from the courts but at the moment it made no sense to me.
Let us keep in touch so that we are updated on the happenings.
Thanks again,
