Current situation: Paying Oklahoma court ordered child support for two children born 5/21/1984 & 9/1/1998. Oldest child turns 18 and graduates high school May 2002. I currently reside in Texas, minor children reside in Oklahoma.

Question: Based on the legal statement from divorce decree listed below, can I reduce my child support payment by ½ as of June 1, 2002, paying 287.50 for the remaining minor child or is it stated that I pay full amount until last minor child reaches 18 or gradeuates highschool?

It is further ordered, adjudged and decreed by the court that the defendant shall pay the sum of $575.00 per month to Plaintiff, as and for child support and employment-related Day Care expenses per month, commencing on the 15th day of October, 1989, and continuing in the same amount monthly each month thereafter until said children attain the age of eighteen (18) years or graduate from high school, whichever is the last to occur, or until further order of the court.

Your order says until CHILDREN turn 18 or graduate so you still owe $575 but you really should have it modified especially since you $575 includes day care expenses and if your children are old enough that they are out of daycare that could be modified, I don't know if you can modify it so it reflects support for one child now but it couldn't hurt to ask the Oklahoma Clerks office.
