What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Idaho

A couple of weeks ago, my 7 year old son was sexually violated in the bathroom of his elementary school by a boy a couple years older than him. A teacher walked in and had a talk with the boys. He then sent them back to class. The SRO (School Resource Officer) and CPS was called and when they arrived at the school, my son and the other boy were called to the office. My son started to panic when he saw the officer, thinking he was in trouble and it was only then that the school called us. It took 5 minutes from the time my husband got the call until he arrived at the school. By the time he got there, they had already interrogated (interviewed, whatever) my son.

I have no idea what the laws are regarding this. We just moved to Idaho 2 months ago. We're already upset about what happened and how it was handled but I am left wondering if what the police and school did was right. Aren't the parents supposed to be present for (or at least consent to) an interrogation/interview of their minor child? Especially since my son specifically asked for my husband? Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!

You do not have to be present for your child to be questioned. Deal with the important questions insteak of trying to attach blame to those who are dealing with the larger issues.

Actually I am dealing with the important questions and I am not trying to attach blame to anyone. I am just trying to educate myself on how things should and shouldn't be handled.

Do you know where I can find the law or statute or whatever that says that we don't have to be there? I would think that after my son requested his dad to be there, that they would need to wait until my husband arrived.
