Mississippi**************..Is there a statue of limitation on intimacy at the age of 16 yrs.old and the male was 8 years her senior. My daughter now has a child by this man. The grandaughter is now 22 yrs. old. Do I as a parent have the right to press charges since my daughter was only 16 yrs old at the time.
I did try many years ago , but no attorney would help me.

From what I've found, the crime occurs when the child is under sixteen. There also seems to be a two year statute of limitations on statutory rape, but no statute of limitations on sexual assault.

It seems that Chester the Molester got away with this one.

YOU can't press charges for anything. There are two reasons:
First, you are not the district attorney. You can file a complaint, but cannot force the prosecution of any crime. Second, and more importantly, there was no crime committed. The age of consent in MS is 16 years old with no bar on age difference for consenting persons. The only exception is if the person with whom she had sex with was in a specific position of authority over her such as a teacher, therapist or parent.

Three reasons, actually.

Even if there were grounds for a complaint, it happened over 22 years ago:

That boat has left the dock.

Good catch. I thought it was 22 months ago, but 22 year is ridiculous!
