SOUTH DAKOTA, i am trying to get med treatment as agreed in settlement but ins is trying to get out of it, I just learned they have called my nieghbors and said i told them their names and numbers,and that they should call them which i did not. in an effort to find out what i have been doing, yardwork ect... is it legal for them to lie like that? i live in ky now

I can only guess that the insurance company has hired a private investigator to look into your situation. If they did that, then it's because they suspect fraud. Can a PI lie to your neighbors? Sure. If they did hire an investigator, he's not a very good one.

If they're doing the investigation on their own, then they need to hire a professional PI because they're not any good at it either.
