MA (only U.S. law)?

I'm not sure where to post this so I'll post it here.

I saw an commercial about the Iphone and it boasted that the Iphone has more apps then any other phone, but I can almost bet(I can't bet through lack of money) that any windows mobile phone has more compatible applications and programs then the Iphone. On last check I head that the Iphone has 20,000 something apps. A site with windows mobile software had over 30,000 when I added up the numbers on the pages. Taking off for a few incompatibility and repeats(some don't work well on WM6 compared to WM CE or WM6, os so on) and there should still be more then 15,000 left(probably over 20,000, I can't test them all, I only have one WM 6 device and one life), and that's on a single site(first one I found on google).

I lack almost all means to do anything significant right now(through lack of knowledge about law).

What should be done(persuming I didn't mishear)?

Um, let those injured worry about it. A buyer of a phone isn't truly injured by the statement. Possibly a competing phone manufacturer may be and if so, it would be up to them to argue the claim.

Wouldn't that count as false advertising though(that goes for a lot of many other things too)?

Not sure if that is punishable though.

possibly but since you, as a consumer really aren;t damaged, you would have no suit. Like I said, if a competitor wants to take them to task, then they may have a sustainable suit but I would suggest how the commercial is worded will make the statement true or so ambiguous that it is not seen as a statement of fact.

Thanks for the advice!

I guess I'm just annoyed at how much companies play off the general publc. It's also the general public's fault too since many of them don't take the few minutes it takes to inform themselves about a product or what ever so they are more informed buyers. Uninformed and too lazy to believe in any other thing then what the ads say. (they will then push the blame of being uninformed on other people and so on, rarely taking the blame for themselves)

Another example would be the "35 million candlepower" spotlight. I've seen them tested and they are lucky to reach 1% of their clamined power.

Also the infomercials to me are very easy to see through but I've seen quite a few fall into the trap.

All it takes is a few minutes and google!

But then if a company doesn't decieve, then it would be hard to live in the market since their claims will seem inferior even though they might have a better product.

Humm, I think that was a rant, sorry.

Who cares? If someone wants to spend a fortune on a phone with the requirement that it does everything but wipe their butt, then they should have the intelligence to do some research on different phones first. Believing everything that is said in a commercial about a product is just ignorant. A commercial will say anything to make you buy the junk.
