Who exactly should consider an irrevocable trust as opposed to just having a Will? I mean is it something to do with a family makeup, value of estate, etc?

The appeal of an irrevocable trust, in my mind, is to eliminate probate and speed up the process that way. But does it make sense for a couple that has only 2 adult children (no other living relatives) and an estate of about $400,000?

I guess I'm just not sure who it is designed for.

Thanks. Jim
