It’s wise to be skeptical. Since the firm isn’t in your state (IL) and you’ve seen negative reviews, don’t pay any fees until you verify their legitimacy. Check if they’re licensed to practice in the U.S. and see if there are complaints with your state bar. Offering free advice on a website doesn’t guarantee trustworthy paid services. If something feels off, it’s safer to look for a local, reputable attorney instead

Maybe spammers see the “outside the US” and “scam” in the thread’s title and think, “Hey! A thread devoted to people just like me!”
