Since his wife won't sign the marital settlement agreement, his lawyer advised him to apply for bifurcation. Will he receive a divorce decree after that? I mean what piece of paper will he receive if the judge will grant him that. Is that the same thing he needs to remarry or petition his girlfriend?

It would get him officially divorced without having to wait for the property settlement to be decided. Sometimes that's not a good move. Sometimes that makes the property settlement end up dragging out for a very long time.

He will have to be divorced in order to remarry. Yes, if the bifurcation happens, he will be divorced.
