What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? WI

Is the front and back porch an area that should be considered in the measurments of the square footage of my home for real estate tax purposes if the porches are enclosed?

If the porch were unfinished and not livable, I would argue that the City/Town should exclude it from Total Living Area. This would be similar to how a garage would be dealt with.

It depends on tax assessment standards in your county. Typically, enclosed porches aren't calculated in square footage total but are considered in evaluation in property.

Thanks! I'm not sure what would be considered "unfinished and not livable". What I have has a couple windows and a door leading to the outside, and a carpet that is typical of what would be in an entryway (low shag). It doesn't have a heating vent or anything like that, but it does have an electrical outlet.
