If you look at my other post in the criminal section, you will see I am in the middle of dealing w/ the DA's office in MA to try and convict a man who abused me 20 yrs ago.

I should clarify (in case needed) - the crimes were committed in MA, although he now resides is RI.

If the end result is I cannot have him convicted because of the Statute of Limitations, I want to do what I can legally do to warn others of this man who has been on the streets for over 20+ years. Not only will he have not paid for what he did for years on end to me, he most likely has abused many, many other innocent children.

Can I legally warn others about this man? Can I investigate on my own and try finding out if there are any other victims out there (obviously divulging to whoever I need to -what he did to me)? He will not have been convicted of the crime I am accusing him of merely because of the SOL.

I was told (by the DA) on a civil level the SOL is usually even less, but usually much easier to convict than on a criminal level. If this is true, the chance I take of him trying to sue me may VERY well be worth it because I feel I have a strong case (on a civil level).

I also know he is living in an extremely poor neighborhood, which tells me he most likely is struggling financially. I don't believe he could afford, financially, to sue me. I also believe the monetary aspect as well as the fact he and I both know he is guilty, will leave very little chance he'll actually fight me on this.

I would think the obvious answer is "NO"- that I cannot go around accusing someone of something they have not been convicted of. However, I also wonder if I am legally allowed to, until he proves he in fact did not commit these acts. I can't be arrested for anything I've mentioned above that I want to do, can I?

Thanks for any advice!
