Texas, U.S. law..

Hi, I was wondering if there was anything I could do...I was one of the students that got suckered into Westwoood College of Technology in 2002. The school sold me on a pitch that they were one of the best in the nation, that they were accredited and that my credits would transfer to many schools to continue my education. and they assured me that they would find me a job. I ended up getting credits that won't even transfer to a community college, my debt is comparable to students at Harvard, and the best interview they found me was for door-door sales.. and I was almost top of my class! I can't find many details on all the previous Westwood lawsuits due to privacy policies or something, so I don't know how to proceed... I'm in too much debt and my degree is worthless. I've tried contacting a lawyer that said they couldn't take on the case because it was so old...and another forum wouldn't tell me anything at all, they literally just deleted my question... am i just screwed? will i be paying this debt for the next 20 years just for a piece of toilet paper? Please help, I could really use some advice.

Thank you in advance,

Ryan

umm..the loan companies didn't do anything.. i was thinkin more along the lines of sueing the school like many from my class have done in the past.. the reason it took so long was because it wasn't til recently that i found all this out. I've been marching around thinking I had a solid degree behind me, and I don't. the school has gone through 60+ lawsuits from students already...is there nothing I can do just because it's been several years?

Make sure your loans are current.
Apply for Income based repayment
Take a job working for the government or a non-profit.
Apply for the public service loan forgiveness
Make payments for 10 years -- balance will be waived.

that's what i feared :( ....i never thought the school would lie to me...i never even questioned my degree. and it's not like anyone notified me of what was going on.

..for future knowledge, what is the time limit on sueing someone? Thanks for your help

that would vary based on exactly what the suit involves but 4 years is pretty much the max for most anything in Texas.
