I'm 21 yr old . I just received a letter from where city I used to live in saying I missed a court date for a domestic dispute between I and my grandmother back in 2007 when i was still a minor and that there is a bench warrant for me , and that I have to come to court asap. I moved since then, I'm on my own now, I had never knew that i was suppose to got to court and all. Can i get arrested if i go to court, do I need a lawyer?

You did not say what state you are in, and laws vary by state.

In general, if there is a warrant for your arrest you can be arrested if contacted by the police. It sounds as if you are getting an opportunity to clear this up. Or, you can wait for them to come and get you ... on their terms, not yours.

You might want to consult an attorney and see what you can do to arrange a surrender.
