What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? California

I've been working as an "independent contractor" for an English school in California. After talking with the IRS, who told me that the employer was breaking several rules regarding "independent contractor" requirements, I mailed the IRS's checklist of 20 questions to the other employees in the company so that they would be able to take care of themselves come tax time.
I also mentioned, as an example, that my employer had broken one of these rules by threatening myself and another employee with immediate dismissal(these kinds of threats fall under the "employee category" rather than "independent contractor" due to their being a form of "at will" employment).
My words were "And didn't John spend half the night on the phone last night threatening some of us with immediate dismissal?"

Is that information considered slander? It is, after all, true. And I said nothing untoward about the person in the mail. Just a list of tax laws and an encouragment to the others to discuss this matter with him.

Thank you!

Be sure to update your resume since you can be sure you will soon be an unemployed independent contractor (or employee).

Thanks!

California

I've actually quit, and told him that I discussed the matter of my employment with the IRS. He's gotten really scary and keeps calling me at night and threatening lawsuits in his emails.

What happened...did you find out you were responsible for all your own SS, Medicare, and other taxes? I'll bet the IC arrangement sounded pretty darn good when you weren't having those $$$ deducted from your checks.
