Is calling ones business activities a "scam" to family in one's own home slander ?
slander
n. oral defamation, in which someone tells one or more persons an untruth about another, which untruth will harm the reputation of the person defamed. Slander is a civil wrong (tort) and can be the basis for a lawsuit. Damages (payoff for worth) for slander may be limited to actual (special) damages unless there is malicious intent, since such damages are usually difficult to specify and harder to prove.

thank you

My business activities are By no means a scam, My question referred to my potential fault for a statment made by me to my family in reference to another relative- wilst I was having a momentary instance of anger.

My statement was not published- I retracted it at that instance- and apolgized to the individual for making it-

I had an absence of malice at the time- and suspect my angered advisary has no case since it was merely a matter of opinion.

Tell me now- How much exposure do I have ?
