I was fired from my job with a large company when a female coworker, angry and bitter over the fact that I was selected over her, for an enviable position within the company, filed a sexual harassment complaint against me. (I am male.) The company, I believe, took the low road for fear of a law suit and terminated me knowing the complaint was motivated entirely by jealousy.

It is common knowledge among the work force that she felt she was unfairly passed over for the position and made several statements to that effect.

She claimed that about six months ago, she overheard me telling a joke to another coworker that was sexually suggestive and that it made her uncomfortable.

Do I have a slander claim if I can prove she lied about overhearing the conversation when in fact she was told about it after the fact, by the other person?
