What is the name of your state? NC

My husbands cousin had a baby in prison. The doctor told her that it was law that he had to fix her so that she couldn't have any more children. Is this true?

No. Forced sterilizations are illegal.
That statement is somewhat true, however there are seventeen U.S. states that have laws permitting forced sterilization which the law states that "No mentally competent person can be forced to have the operation"
So the answer to the OP question is....MAYBE, depending on what seventeen states are included and depending on the mental state of your husbands cousin, a Judge could very well rule that she be steralized.

I am not an attorney nor do I have any education in 'LAW' my opinions are strictly from either experience or reading. So I would suggest that you, your husband and/or your cousin ask a civil rights attorney.
