My divorce was finalized in May of 2000. My ex and I were in separate states during the signing of the papers. I did not use a lawyer and my ex filed a no-fault divorce in GA, while me and the kids lived in NY. My ex is an ex-marine, still active during the divorce final decree. I signed 3 different sets of papers and certain considerations were noted in the divorce papers I signed, (ex. child support until age 21 if child/ren were still in school) the paper I received from the GA court said the child support would stop at age 18. Is it legal for the judge to change papers that I signed?
Also, my ex did not pay the full amount of child support alloted for several months. He claims that he does not owe the full amount because the judge did not deem the divorce final until May (at which time he began paying the full amount.) Even though the amount was clearly stated in the original divorce papers I signed. Does my ex owe me the back child support?
