My mother's parents died 5 years ago. She has one surviving sister who has helped her pay the taxes on a home, which includes 24 acres. They also had to put 12k in repairing the home. There were two other siblings who has also died but have surviving children. Is there not a way to take ownership through paying the taxes?

**A: possibly in other situations but not this one. The tenancy at time of death and or will would dictate ownership. Find out the status of probate.

You need a probate attorney. The way I am counting, you may need a minimum of four probate estates (grandma, grandpa, and the two kids who have died).
