I am a web designer, and I recently did a web page for an oil company. They now are looking to sell the company - and won't pay me for the page I created for them! Is this something I could take to small claims court or do I need to actually get a lawyer and go to court? The fee is only $1100 - if that makes any difference.
Thanks a bunch!

This sounds like a good case for Small Claims. You need to make sure that you have all the information you need to support your claim for moneys owed and their failure to pay.

Before you file, you might try sending a demand letter (certified RRR) detailing your outstanding invoice and that you are preparing to file a legal action to recover the amount. Give them a few (5 business?) days to provide payment. If they don't pay, go ahead and file.
