Is Someone Responsible for Deceased Spouse's Debt in New York State?

If, in New York State, a man dies, leaving his wife credit card debt, is she responsible for it if her name is not on the credit card?

Depends, If he was born in AD or BC :D
Logic would say yes she is responsible for it, since she probably max'd it out anyhows.(but the laws are by no means logical! so scratch that original thought)
The laws vary from state to state, so until you clarify what state the man died in ( and the state of insanity from being married doesnt count!)and whether he had a will drawn up , your question cannot be answered based on the ambiguity.

If you wouldn't have taken the time to remove the question "what is the name of your state?", you could have received an answer to your question. Now you are going to waste everyone's time waiting to see if you respond or if you are going to be like about half the people that come to this forum, ask a question then never come back to check the answer.
