What is the name of your state? California

Here is what happened.

A friend of mine, we'll call her Susan, went on a business trip for a bank with another employee. The trip was a 6 hour drive so she asked if I can drive with her and drive her around the city because she is bad with directions. Since she was uncomfortable with staying in the same hotel room with her fellow worker she asked the main branch for 2 rooms. ( They initially said that both of them share a room).

So the first day, I drop her off at the main branch. When I come to pick her up, one of the bank officers see me pick her up. The next day, Susan gets to work an hour late. The officer that saw me pick her up calls Susan's branch and tell Susan's supervising officer that she brought along her "husband/boyfriend." Susan is also being accused of going "honeymooning" on the bank's expense, because she had asked for a second room.

Now everyone in Susan's home branch thinks the same way, including a few big mouthed officers. In the business she is in, word gets around inside and outside. She is feeling very uncomfortable and she was given a "warning" about being an hour late, but no warnings were ever issued to other employees on being late.

An e-mail was also sent to Susan branch alledging she was an hour late because she spent all night "sightseeing." None of these things are true. And somehow a copy of that e-mail was given to Susan by a fellow worker, which makes her believe that this e-mail is freely floating about.

She is very angry and wants to know if she has a case. She also knows that the big mouthed officers will spread these accusations to other banks, and this makes her even more mad. Is there a case here? What is the name of your state?

Truth is an absolute defense. So, if you (whoever the hell you are) did in fact spend the night in Susan's room then there is nothing actionable.

In fact, since Susan can't show damages, there is still nothing actionable in this post.

**A: but, was there any action in the hotel room that night?

I did spend the night in Susan's hotel room, but it was also with her fellow worker. I had to sleep on the floor. There was no action =P.

It is rumors and gossip, started by the officer at her main branch. She's thinks it's very unprofessional and silly, but is still pretty ticked off about it. The rumors are stating that she is lying about the whole subject and the truth is that i am her husband/boyfriend and she is being asked about what really happened by everyone at her home branch, meaning everyone knows. If it was me, I would raise hell.

Even if I was her husband, is the officer legally allowed to call around and talk to everyone about the private lives of other employees and also making it seem like she was untrustworthy and unreliable?

Also I did not completely tell the story. What would be actionable in this post?

First you state this:

Since she was uncomfortable with staying in the same hotel room with her fellow worker she asked the main branch for 2 rooms. ( They initially said that both of them share a room).
Then you state this:
I did spend the night in Susan's hotel room, but it was also with her fellow worker. I had to sleep on the floor. There was no action
How many rooms were there Adam?

There was 1 room. After the request, they supposedly booked 2 rooms, but when we got there, the guy at the front desk told us that there was no second room.

(Thank god her fellow worker was pretty attractive =P)

Yeah I tried to get rooms at the marriot a few blocks down, but they were booked. Other than sleeping there, I really didn't do much with the 2 ladies. I even contemplated sleeping in my car, but it was very windy and cold as heck.
