... on the part of a local newspaper to follow up on stories?

A couple of years ago I was arrested, falsely accused of "stalking". A year later I was again falsely arrested, charged with bail and protective order violations. Both of these events made the front page in the local newspaper where I was made out to be evil personified.

Eventually I was found not guilty of the stalking charge by a jury in Superior Court and the District Attorney dropped the other charges. This fact was reported, tucked away inside on page 8 or 9, but at least it was printed.

Now I've filed suit against the woman who brought these charges and the local paper printed nothing, though a paper in a nearby town did print an article about it. The local paper *is* aware of the suit. My attorney has talked me out of writing a letter to the editor for publication saying it might negatively affect the suit.

This sensationalist, one sided reporting irritates the hell out of me. Do I have any recourse against the newspaper?

thanks

The newspapers have no obligation to follow up.
You are free to pay for a full or partial page of advertsing to get your story out if you so desire.
