I entered a contract a few months ago with a company. The entirety of the contract was not explained to me and when I asked the day I signed it was mentioned to me that I could end the contract with no penalties at any time. I tried ending the contract and management told me I was not allowed to leave the contract unless I had a doctor’s note that I was allergic to the product. I’m unsure if there is any way to contest the contract and would appreciate any advice.

Contract review is beyond the scope of this forum. You should seek the advice of a local attorney.

Nobody is supposed to "explain" it to you. You're supposed to read it and understand it before you sign it.

and when I asked the day I signed it was mentioned to me that I could end the contract with no penalties at any time.
"Mentioned" is meaningless and unenforceable. It's what is written in the contract that counts.

I tried ending the contract and management told me I was not allowed to leave the contract unless I had a doctor’s note that I was allergic to the product.
Well, what does the contract say about that?

Have you bothered to read it yet to confirm what you are being told about cancellation?

Zigner is right. You need to have a professional read the document. There are any number of reasons why it may not be binding upon you. Most of which you wouldn't be familiar.

And even if it is obligatory on your part, the lawyer can tell you what recourse or legal remedies would be available to the other party should you refuse to honor your commitment. In many instances the remedies are there but are hollow, not worth pursuing, or impractical to pursue.
