My Granddaddy lived in South Carolina and had purchased U.S. Savings Bonds. They were in his Safe, when he got sick he went to the hospital & 1 of his son's went into the house & stole the safe. He got everything. I was wondering, is there a way to trace & obtain documents proving the ownership & amount of the U.S. Savings Bonds that were stolen? My dad is now the Executor of the Estate; however, without proof there is nothing an attorney can do about it. If you know how he could trace & obtain documents concerning these U.S. Savings Bonds, your help would greatly be appreciated. Cockaburr

The Department of Treasury handles the sales and payout of savings bonds. Contact your local office and they should be able to help. You will have to supply the bond serial numbers before they can do anything though, without the numbers, there is nothing they can do.

Alright, thanks so much for the info. I was hoping I could find a way that I could search by name, but I really didn't figure it would be possible. Once again, I really do appreciate your response and the info. Cockaburr
