Is there any law stating that a person can't make beef jerky in their own home and only sell to people they know as a favor for them? This is not the same as selling it to a retail outlet and they in turn sell it to the public. This is of the utmost urgency. Please reply ASAP. Thanks.

The applicable laws would be from the local health dept and business registration office. If the people will sell to the general public that may be considered the same as if they were a retail outlet/food broker or wholesaler.

HomeGuru, That first statement was kind of in jest. Sorry I did not give my state. I live in OKlahoma. Different counties require a helth permit which I have, but Mayes county (where I live) doesn't require one. Now would there be a different answer? We (my friends & I) don't consider my sells to MY FRIENDS as "public" sales. Also in order to sell it retail, a USDA stamp is required on bag. Selling it retail means taking bagged jerky to retail store ex.grocery store & they in turn sell it to the public. I am not doing this. Thanks for your help.

Forgot to add to last reply. What does the business registration office have to do with this? This is a new one on me.
