i live in West Virginia and am very concerned for my friend's 2 yr old little boy. my friend will call me at 1 am and him will be screaming in the background. he wants me to come and get his son. when i get there he is yelling at the child telling him he "can't wait til he is gone", that he "hates him", and that he "never wants to see him again". these are not things you tell a child. so i take the 2 yr old to my house. when i get him home i always have to give him a bath because he is always filthy. i mean there is dirt caked in the creases of his neck and he smells so bad. i always find bruises on his legs and back in the shapes of hand prints and such during his bath. i usually end up taking care of this child for 3 to 3 1/2 weeks out of the month. these things are very disterbing to me. the child and i have grown very close to him in the past 6 months. i just want to know if there is any way my husband and i could get custody of the child. i don't want to send him to strangers and i don't want him taken where i can't see him anymore. PLEASE HELP ME!!

Where is the childs mother? You can call child protective services but there is no guarantee that the child would be placed with you. Sorry I can't be much more help but please continue to protect and care for this childl.

Aterry, you need to take that child to the emergency room. Who cares if he is placed with strangers at first if they care for him and take care of him! I realize you and your husband are worried but it would be best for the child to get out of there even if it isn't with you. You would have a chance of having the child placed with you as a foster child. Please do all of us a favor and take him to a doctor and get CPS involved. Don't give up on him.

You can file for temp custody.

Why not? Especially if the child is unwanted. Call the police, tell them you are willing to take the child. At least you can try. I don't know why someone would say you wouldn't have a chance getting the child as a foster child. There's always a chance.
Call the parents, ask for them to give you temp custody. They may be willing. If they are willing, have them sign just a note from a notebook paper. Take it to court. File for temp custody with the note. Tell the judge what's going on and maybe the parents can appoint you his legal guardian. Don't give up on the child. He needs you as you seem to be the one constent good thing/person in his life. If the parents know that they are in trouble, they may be willing to work with you so you can keep the child. Since they call YOU when in trouble.

It sound to me like the parents don't want the child so why don't you just ask them to give you the child. i have seen this done before and it really isn't that complicated.
