Hi - I posted no icons because I don't know what they mean - o'kay????

Parent and cildren were riding on local bus April/May'99. Bus driver was bizarr to say the least; argueing, stopping, starting again after angry stops jolting/tossing passengers, threatening as I said bizarr!!!
Finally after terrifing the family one child began whaling crying hard because that child had been thrown up against a metal pole-divider by the force of the bus slamming etc to the driving and got hurt. The parent who had been asking the driver to call in for the entire ride finally got the drivers attention (the noise from he child) got him to stop and let them off.
The police were called (the bus co was closed) report made and as yet nothing no follow up no response as they were promised. Still the children will absolutly not get on a bus now and taxis are expensive. can they sue? should they? if not what ? if so how? they are in California
Any advice you can is appreciated.
One Last Thing, I've never done this before did i give too much info???
thanx

You did a good job telling the facts. But I didn't understand whether this was a private bus or a public one? Either way, the first step would probably be to write a letter of complaint to the management. Second, if you are interested in a lawsuit, you may have a case for false imprisonment, which is a confinement or restraint of a person to a bounded area without justification or consent. This is also a crime in some jurisdictions. Have you called the police department to find out the status of the case? I suggest if you are interested in a lawsuit to consult with a general/civil practice lawyer. There are referrals on this website.

Do you feel comfortable representing yourself? If yes, you have plenty of references out there that can help you through: websites as well as self-help legal guidebooks. If not, I suggest you consult with a lawyer. Despite the cost, it may save you money in the long run if the judgment is against you. There are lawyer referrals on this website.
