I was recently fired in relation to my pregnancy. The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing is reviewing my case and I believe I will prevail. In the event that I am supported in this by the DFEH, I'm concerned that my boss will not be willing to settle and a long legal battle will result that I may not be able to afford. The ex-boss' company has a contract with the local hospital district. I don't believe it is government-owned but I do know that the head of its board is an elected official. I also have a friend who is a prominent political figure in the area and I would like to notify the elected hospital representative who, I hope, will in turn notify the person who does the contract with my boss of the discrimination, in the event, of course, that the discrimination is shown by the DFEH. I would not do this if I did not have something to back my allegation. My intent is that my tax dollars should not support a hospital (or anyone) who uses a company that illegally discriminates. I don't want to do anything illegal, nor do I want to hurt my case or put my friend's political career in jeopardy. What I hope to accomplish (though they may not be willing to help at all) is that this action would pressure my ex-boss to stop her discriminatory actions and, of course, not drag this out for years in the hopes that I will not be able to afford the legal battle. Thanks for any advice you would give.
