I am at a loss as to how to get my wedding ring back. A few years ago, we bought our wedding rings online from a platinum jeweler in TX. We had no problems with him, even had one of our rings re-sized and received it back within specified timeframe with no issues. During my pregnancy, I had to have my ring cut off, so it was in two seperate pieces. I contacted the guy to see whether he'd be able to repair it, and he quoted me a price of $50 for the repair. I sent the ring to him in May 2005. So, after repeated attempts (and some sucesses) at contacting him to ask when my ring was going to be returned to me, I still have not received it. He cashed the check in October, I think. The last time I spoke to him (Dec 30), he said he'd send it out and I'd have it after the first of January. Still haven't received it, and haven't been able to reach him, only get his voicemail. Is there a law that can help me get my ring back? What steps should I take next?

What is the value of the ring (actual, not sentimental)? There isn't really any law that will make him give it back -- the best you can do is sue him, and you'll probably have to travel to Texas to do it. If you sure in small claims court, then the best you can do is get the monetary value of the ring back. If you sue in superior court, you may be able to get the ring itself back (if he still has it), but that will most likely require a lawyer. Depending on how much the ring is worth and how badly you want the ring itself back, it may be worthwhile to sit down with an attorney, who can review all of the facts of your situation and advise you accordingly.
