Is it considered libel for a credit reporting agency to post incorrect information that is defamatory, even if the source client gave them the incorrect information? For example, a newpaper prints a news article based on information from a souce. Are both the newspaper and the source held responsible for libel if the information is incorrect and defamatory? If so, then in the same respect, wouldn't the credit reporting agency be held reponsbile, as well as the source? Isn't there a resonsibility somewhere to verify information before it is printed or posted?
