My son was arrested for a 211 robbery in Calif. Reading 211 defined in the Penal Code book:Robbery is the felonious taking of personal property in the possession of another, from his person or immediate presence, and against his will, accomplished by means of force or fear. --My son took a purse from our upstairs apt. The person the purse belonged to was in the downstairs parking lot. When the person saw him running with her purse she chased after him and fell hurting her finger. He was charged with robbery, doesn't the charge fall more into some other category.

Assuming he never touched her of said anything, those facts show a theft, not a robbery because he did not use force or fear to take or retain the purse.
