I am in Oregon. Here is my story. I traded a dog with full akc papers with another breeder for one of her puppies with full akc papers. Our contract states that it is a straight trade and both dogs are being sold with full akc papers. the contract goes on to state that if for any reason the buyer can no longer keep the above mentioned dog, the ownership will revert to the seller OR a mutually agreed upon home. no monies will be reimbursed to the buyer.
It then goes on to state(put in a short words) that violation of this sale agreement will entitle the seller to payment on demand in the amount equal to five times the purchase price stated above.

well there was no purchase price. so can the breeder sue me? I asked the breeder what to do if i want to resell the dog and the breeder told me that all i had to do was send her the new owners contact info. In the process of selling the dog the breeder contacts me and states they will not approve any home and if i try to resell the dog they will sue me. the breeder is being unreasonable. I ended up not selling the dog at the time but want to do so now.(without being sued) can the breeder ask for 5 times the amount of purchase price anyhow? the breeders dogs sell for as much as 2,500.00. i have another dog from the breeder that i bought before all of this for 2,000.00. Am i doomed to keep that dog forever because of the breeders sales contract? Can those terms be legal on a contract? forever? any help greatly appreciated.
