Is this legal? Help!

State: Virginia

I purchased two cell phones from Intelenetwireless.com. They charged me 10% sales tax (in virginia the rate is 5% since I believe this rate they charged me is based on the rate in company' location). Can they charge me the sales tax on these phones since I think this company has no store in Virginia and the package was sant from Largo, MD. Is this legal or not?

BTW: I always order items on Newegg, Amazon or Buydig and have never been charged sales tax.

Please help me out or give me some advice.

usually when an item is purchased and shipped out of state they don't charge sales tax, the responsibilty is on the buyer to report the purchase and pay the sales tax in their state. have you called them for clarification?

What were you told when you asked the seller about the sales tax?

You would only have to pay state sales tax if an item is sold from a state that requires it. many states do not. Do an online search for MD's state sales tax rules. I doubt if it is 10%, though.
