What is the name of your state?Pennsylvania
Here is the scenerio--a veteran assistant soccer coach for our local school district has decided to open a strip club (which is legal). The school board opted not to rehire him.
The board president is a bitter lame duck and is trying to use what remains of his political power to unseat the sitting superintendent. Our school district is ranked #1 in our county and in the top 47 of the state, and the superintendent has huge community support with petiutions being signed throughout the district to retain him.
The board president wrote a letter to the editor of our local newspaper stating that the superintendent had been the person to recommend the veteran coach be reinstated while he, the board president, had rejected the idea and asked for another coach to be named. The fact is the superintendent DID NOT recommend the coach, he was recommended by the head soccer coach as is the policy of the district regarding all assistant coaching positions.
The board president is trying to portray the superintendent negatively, and the information about the superintendent recommending the strip club owner for the position is false. Is this libel?
