What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Located in NY - alleged "slandered" person in FL

Okay - running this by because it came up at work.

Called a house - kids get on the phone - young kids.

Playing on the phone - normally you can hear adults in the background.

Not this time, after telling the kids no less than 10 times need to speak to an adult - and they say nothing but make noises into the phone, etc..
After close to 7 mins of this - call is over.

Call local (in FL) police, tell them that you *think* there might be children home alone, and explain why you think that.

They say they will check it out never ask you for your name (obviously they would have called ID - this was NOT reported as an emergency - call into the regular phone number).

Person you were trying to get ahold of calls in today & claims they are going to sue for slander because the police were called.

Is it slander?

Thanks in advance for any & all thoughts,

Derby Girl

My response:

As best as I can understand your nearly incoherent post, the answer is no.

No it is not slander.
Were they home when the police came by?

Once had to do a callout in the middle of the night, called the on call employee, the office manager answered the phone instead and realized it wasn't their home, oops  That wasn't slander either
