What is the name of your state? NY

Is it slander and do I have legal recourse if someone made a phone call to a Parole Officer and made a very untrue statement about me? This statement is now in my boyfriends file since I was supposed to be the address he got paroled to. The statement is totally unfounded and can't be proven. I also have never been questioned about it nor has it been investigated. They just took a person's word for it and placed it in a file.

The statement was that I hid someone who ran from parole in my home and helped him traffic drugs between 2 counties. I didn't even have my own apartment at the time, I rented a bedroom from my mother. Also, I was always at work so when did I have time to do this? It's just ludicrous that someone would say that about me. I don't hang around with people who use or sell drugs.

It was put on paper without question or investigation and placed in my boyfriends file and now they won't let him be released to my home for parole. My address is acceptable and had been approved until this person made this false statement about me. So, now he has no place else to go so they will keep him locked up until another address can be found. I just don't think this is right since this person just called up and they took her word for it and placed it in a file. If they just put him on hold pending investigation I may understand and they wouldn't come up with anything. But instead they are just flat out refusing to let him come to my home.

A probation officer can have any reason or no reason for denying one of his "customers" something. A PO has the key to the pokey.

Even if it could be proved that this statement about you is false, it would not necessarily help your friend.
