What is the name of your state? NY
I had a meeting with the court kind of people here on campus. They said since the food I left in the hall *could* have caused damage, it is considered vandalism. They said since I did it on numerous times, it's considered harassment too.

I can agree with the harassment, but not the vandalism.

This is in a college dorm setting.

EDIT: Oh yeah, they also base it on that my room is messy and since it's a mess in the hallway, that must mean I did it. I did not admit to anything.

They said they failed to see the connection between other people vandalizing our floor and my way of saying it was probably them who left food in the hallway. How can I better explain that for my appeal?

Thanks.

Ask them to show you the written definition of vandalism in their rules.

Then post back the EXACT wording of that definition.
