What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Some idiot on a Network Site called Reddit.com owned by Conde Nest and Wired deliberately wrote the following (I have x'd out the first and last name here for privacy):

XABCX,I thought you were gone. Stop with the blogspam, you ****ing moron.
(keywords: XABCX, XABCX, sex offender registry)

He clearly made this up so it would be indexed on Google and now I am indexed in Google as a sex offender. I emailed 2 administers of this site to delete this and after 12 hours they haven't.

Google will not delete anything other then if comments are changed, they supposedly then change what they pick up.

What would you do? Do I have a strong enough case that a lawyer could sue all parties for slander, etc. on a contingency basis (Reddit has plenty of money) or would you just let this go? If it wasn't indexed on Goggle, and just on the site, I could care less, but anyone who looks up my name, will see this. I do not find this funny at all and I can't believe Reddit hasn't immediately removed this.

Most attorneys will not take a defamation action on a contingency basis, first of all, and any defamation action you were to bring would more than likely have to be against the person posting the defamatory material - not Reddit, Conde Nast or Wired, who had no involvement in creating the content of the posting. So, any thoughts of huge monetary damages being awarded should you bring, and then win, a defamation action are probably unrealistic.

I think your best bet will probably be to get a court order ordering the site to remove the defamatory posting. Most websites will not remove content without a court order to do so.

You may find that a court will not issue an order unless you file suit against the poster first. If this is the case, then you should consult with an attorney in your area, to see if following through on an action against the poster is worth your time, effort and money.

Obviously being labeled a sex offender when you are not is defamatory, and a certain amount of reputational injury is presumed with a false accusation of this sort. Whether you want to pursue this, however, is a decision you need to make on your own, after consultation with an attorney.

The thing Is I Contacted the Site to Remove it

I contacted the site to remove it and I said failure to do so would result in legal action against them. So they clearly know that someone is using their website to defame/slander me and it is their responsibility to delete this as I've requested them to do so.
