Ok, so over the summer I accepted an offer for sub-leasing a house for $400 a month. Nowhere in the email i was sent or in talking with the person was i informed that utilities where due or that they where not included in the rent. I did not sign any contract for the period and it was a verbal agreement for $400 a month. So, 2 months later after i moved out i get a email from him saying i owe $250 for utils for the months i lived at that address, There was no mention of utilities during any of the time i lived there. Do i owe this amount? What would be the next step?
Below is the original add minus the personal details:

Hey Everyone,
I am looking for someone to sublease my share of a 3 bedroom apartment starting June 1st thru the end of August. The apartment is a duplex in a tucked back lot, so there is plenty of privacy. I have 2 male roommates, one of which will only be there on weekends. The address is xxxxxxx.
There are:
Three large bedrooms
Kitchen with dishwasher
Living Room
Den Area
Basement
1 bathroom

My roommate is also planning on bring up a washer and dryer. Rent would be $400. All furniture and kitchen appliances will already be there. If you are interested please contact me at the information below.

If utilities are not mentioned as being included then they are not included. You should have asked.

**A: we can't move you since we're in California and you're in Wisconsin.
So not to worry about deleting this post. Just make a new thread in the correct forum.
Thank you.
