I stored a boat here in California at some open air
RV and boat storage place. The cost was $40/month.

The stereo and driver's seat were stolen from the boat
when I picked it up.

The storage place claims that they are not responsible,
and that they do not have insurance to cover that. I
am supposed to have it covered by my own insurance.

I do not have theft coverage.

Do I have any recourse against the storage company?

Thanks in advance,
Schoeney

If you will read the paperwork that you signed when you stored the boat, you will probably find a section that says, "We are not responsible for loss, damage or theft".

That means you have no recourse against them.
