What is the name of your state? Washington

I was involved in an incident in which I told another person off. There were no threats or acts of violence. The next thing I know the cops are showing up at my house and I'm hearing a story about how I threatened this person with a gun and tried to physically harm other people who were present in the situation.

What are my other rights besides a defamation lawsuit?

My response:

What damages have you suffered as a result?

Did anyone believe the statements?

Have you been shunned in your community?

Well I believe that the cops will be on my back after the 911 call was made.

I am in the military and believe this attack was made out to damage my career and bring personal harm to me. I am seeking out advice to protect myself from this happening again.

Simple. Stay away from these people and keep your mouth shut then next time there is a confrontation and just walk away.

My response:

What you "believe" and what "actually" happens are two different things. You can't "protect" yourself from people making unfounded allegations UNTIL you've suffered some sort of damages.

While you may have been accused of a crime (threatening the other person with a gun), unless you can prove that the occurrence never happened, then it's your word against the other person. Judges do not award monetary damages without some modicum of proof.

If and when that occurs, then come back.

Shut up. I was seeking serious replies and you're not funny. If you don't have anything to add on here then don't reply.

Anyways, thanks for the advice "I am always liable".

EXCUSE ME?

Listen JERK, that WAS serious. So now here's another one for you. GROW UP!

From your posting here I doubt seriously that you are innocent of anything. Now, want to keep this going or just 'WALK AWAY'?
