I live in Ky and about 6 months ago I went to Jd byrider because I had no other choice. Well about a month ago I was driving and my car shut off I lost steering and wrecked my car. I was talking to a mechanic friend of my and told him what happened and he told me it sounds like they never fixed the recall problem that has been out with Chevy for quite a while. So my question is, is there any way to get out of my contract since they didn't fix a recall problem on my car. Thanks

The recall is from GM. The loan is with JdByrider. One is not liable for the others actions. How do you know byrider was even aware of the recall on that particular car or that it had not been fixed? There is a very slim chance, like in almost nonexistant that byrider might have some culpability here. The same, there is a very slim chance GM may have some culpability as well. It will all depend on who was given notice of the recall by whom and when and whether they acted on the notice or not.

Here is a link to Kentucky's lemon laws: http://ag.ky.gov/family/consumerprotection/cars/Pages/lemon.aspx

Under "Used Cars," you can read about what to do if your car has problems that should have been disclosed to you by the used car dealer prior to sale.
