What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? DC

Hi there,
here is my question: I currently hold a J1 visa which is going to expire at the end of january.

Meanwhile, I have been offered a work position from another french companie which I'd like to accept. This compagnie is willing to sponsor me for the visa.

Can I apply for such a visa regarding my J1 status. Knowing that I am not subject to 2 years residence requirement. I have a master's degree, and am french.

If yes How long would it take?

What type of visa petition is the company wanting to submit on your behalf? Keep in mind that the H-1B quota has been reached, unless this company is quota exempt.

H2B or H1B

hi,
We were planning to apply for a H1B ( they never sponsor anyone before). So I guess that wont be possible because of the quota. I suppose we should try an H2B and probably attempt to get the H1B during next year..what do you think? Is there any other options?

Regarding the exempt quota company, where can we find the regulations?

thanks again for your time

You can look in the Immigration and Nationality Act to see what type of company is quota exempt but typically they are universities and colleges, research organizations, government entities, etc.
