What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? NY

I had a debt about 6 years ago with an utilities company. JBC sent me a letter In July 2004 stating how much I owed and I paid it in full. I just received my credit report and JBC reported "it WAS in collections" but with the wrong date at least I think it is the wrong date. My question isn't JBC required to use the same date as the original creditor? If this is true how can I get this off my credit report - they changed the default date to 2 years so now this will stay on my report for another 5 years????

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!

Your first mistake was paying JBC. SOL on utilities is FOUR YEARS.

It does sound as if JBC has illegally re-aged the debt. The date of delinquency used for reporting can NOT be changed - not legally anyway.

Which date are you looking at ?? If the delinquency date has been changed from what the Utility reported, then you can dispute it as illegally re-aged.
