So to file a small claims suit, you have to physically go to the state where they are located?
You can e-file a small claims complaint but if you do not attend the scheduled trial in New York, your case can be (probably will be) dismissed or your defendant can show up and your case could be decided in his favor.

I personally don’t think you have a good case to pursue against the jeweler - but even a good case does not appear to me to be worth the costs of pursuing. That said, I understand your frustration. You spent a lot of money on bracelets that apparently were not made to withstand daily wear. I suggest you try to find a jeweler near you who sells a less-fragile piece.
