What is the name of your state? Iowa My wife's mother died in an accident 2 months ago. She had life Ins. & it supposedly named her husband as the beneficiary. At the funeral her surviving husband had no money, so her only son paid for all the expense of the funeral, all the while her husband kept saying he would reemburse him with the Ins. money. He also said he would split up what was left over 3 way's, between him, my wife, & her brother. ( They were her only siblings.) He kept saying this all along, & we have witnesses. Now it seems he has changed his mind. Her son is stuck with the bills, we hav'nt seen a dime, & we can't get ahold of him. (We were supposed to get 20,000.) She had no will. Any suggestions? Thank's

It would seem that the son could maintain a claim against the Estate for the funeral expenses. This would not include the insurance benefits as they are not part of the Estate.
