I terminateed my employment with a VA printer to accept a job in MD. After giving notice, training my replacement, etc. I received a call from my MD employer saying they had to implement a hiring freeze, and that I would not be needed. So I'm out of work.

They initiated the process by calling me in response to an online resume. After a lengthy initial call, a first and followup interview, I was hired - due to start work on Feb. 5. On Feb 2, I got a call. Said he couldn't find my phone number! Later that day I got a FedEx Letter - plain paper, handwritten note - no Company stationey.

Obviously this stinks, but is it illegal? Should I persue it as a lawsuit to get them to pay me until I find a job, as some have suggested?
